Value Statement

Renae Crutches is committed to leveraging her experience to serve Central Georgia EMC members by partnering with the board to manage electricity costs, advance transparency, and hold the Cooperative accountable to the people it serves.

Background

Veronica “Renae” Crutches served as a dedicated public servant with a distinguished 34-year career spanning both active military service and a Department of Defense Civilian. She brings a wealth of teamwork, financial management, and residential utility oversight.

Renae is an Army veteran with extensive experience in public service, while serving as DeputyInstallation Commanders, and Senior Logistics Managers. She led several environmental andelectrical engineering teams in identifying potential health impacts; and developed remediationstrategies for neighborhoods adjacent to military installations affected by years of unchecked waste disposal and environmental contamination. She encouraged efficient uses of electricity to develop sustainable energy solutions and usage to meet the Army’s future combat needs.

During her tenure managing Base Realignment and Closure initiatives, Renae oversaw the effective administration of a $30M budget, ensuring funds were expended in accordance with established regulations, and laws.

Throughout her career, Renae demonstrated a deep commitment to service—not only to hercountry but also to her community. Even while serving in demanding government roles, she devoted countless hours to supporting the others through her involvement on multiple Boards and community-based nonprofit organizations.

Renae earned her Bachelor’s degree from Spelman College, as well as two Master’s degrees from Florida Institute of Technology, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. She is also a Senior Executive Government Fellow from Harvard University.

Renae Crutches is committed to using her experience and training to serve the members of Central Georgia EMC by working with the existing board members to manage electricity costs, promote transparency, and ensure accountability across the Cooperative.

Why I’m Running Issues/Priorities

• Decrease Electric Bill

  Rates Renae will fight to keep electricity costs fair and affordable by challenging unnecessary rate increases and advocating for pricing that reflects the true needs of member-owners — not corporate interests.

  
  

• Return Capital Credits to Members

  As a member-owned cooperative, Central Georgia EMC should be returning capital credits to the people who fund it you. Renae will push the board to prioritize timely and equitable capital credit returns so members receive the financial benefits they are rightfully owed.

• Share Financial Transactions

  
  

  Member-owners deserve to know how their money is being spent. Renae will advocate for full financial transparency, ensuring that budgets, expenditures, and major financial decisions are clearly communicated and accessible to every member.

• Engage Members for Their Input

  
  

  Your cooperative should reflect your voice, not just the board’s. Renae will champion meaningful member engagement from town halls to community surveys so that member-owners have a real seat at the table when decisions are made that affect their lives and their bills.

• Clean Energy Planning That Works for You

Renae believes that any clean energy plan adopted by Central Georgia EMC must be grounded in facts, not politics. She will advocate for measurable, transparent clean energy planning that puts cost savings, reliability, and member benefit at the center of every decision.
